The Nautical Institute’s Alert! project, supported by the Lloyd’s Register Foundation, aims to improve awareness of the human element in the maritime industry. Forty issues of the quarterly Alert! maritime human element bulletin were produced, winning numerous industry plaudits. All 350 articles Published: in the bulletin are brought together in the Alert! Compendium, along with 40 centre-spread graphics and the Human Element Competencies Framework approved by IMO in 2017. The hardback book is a valuable resource for naval architects, mariners, engineers, port operators, regulators and insurers. All will benefit from exploring this unrivalled body of knowledge, which underscores the importance of human element principles in ship design and operation.
